Colorful Milk

 

In this demonstration, the students show the powerful action of soap when they make an explosion of color in a pan of milk.

The project above is a DEMONSTRATION. To make it a true experiment, you can try to answer these questions:

1. Do other kinds of soaps give you the same reaction?
2. Does the same reaction happen in other liquids besides milk?
3. How does the reaction change if you use low-fat or skim milk instead of regular milk?

"The Magic of Science" Grant

In November 2008, Mrs. Russ received a $1000 grant from The National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA). NDIA Gulf Coast Chapter awarded grants to Okaloosa County School District teachers through their ACCEL Grants program. The grants are intended to support innovative classroom projects that foster enthusiasm for math and science. Mrs. Russ' project, "The Magic of Science," enabled her students to research, write, and produce a series of science podcasts that demonstrate concepts taught in the third grade science curriculum.
