Magazine Center

 

At the Magazine Center, students choose from a variety of magazines. They read an article and write the important facts in their Notebook, or they read an article and complete one of the task cards.

Materials

  • Magazines
    • Cobblestone Magazine-- American history magazine for kids ages 8 to 13. Future historian will enjoy reading about many events and places, such as Colonial Williamsburg to famous battles of the Civil War, to the Gold Rush, to the Korean War. Each issue has a theme.

    • Appleseeds Magazine -- filled with non-fiction reading and social studies topics for kids ages 7 to 9 . Thematic issues that cover everything from daily life in ancient Mexico to American Heroes to Islam. Contains articles, stories, activities and games that develop skills and interest in vocabulary, geography, history, math and science.

    • Kids Discover--Thematic issues, puzzles and recommended reading lists for children ages seven to 13; pyramids, volcanoes, oceans, television, bubbles, earthquakes, food, Columbus, trains, weather, space, deserts, The Maya, glass, rain forests, The Roman Empire.
