Grammar Center

At the Grammar Center, students use a variety of hands-on activities to practice their grammar skills. Students can:
- complete one of the folder games.
- use the word magnets or cubes to make
sentences and copy the sentences in their Notebook.
- play “You've Been Sentenced!” game.
- complete a VersaTiles activity.
- read a story and make a list of
ten nouns, ten verbs, and ten
adjectives in their Notebook.
- read a story and make a list of
ten verbs with helping verbs in their Notebook.
Materials
- Word Magnets
- Students use these magnets on the side of a file cabinet to make sentences. Then they write the sentences in their Notebook.
- Sentence Builder Rods from Learning Resources.
- Students connect the rods to make silly sentences. Then they record the sentences in their Notebook.

- You've Been Sentenced!
- This sentence-building game uses unique five-sided cards with multiple conjugations of a base word. With a hand of 10 cards, players try to score the most points per round by constructing the longest, grammatically correct, and sensible sentence.
