Op Art Shapes These geometric shapes will play tricks on your eyes!
9x12 white paper
stencils of geometric shapes to trace
rulers
pencils
crayons or markers
black sharpies
1. Use the pencil to draw vertical lines all the way down the paper, about an inch apart. Put the front edge of the ruler along the short edge of the paper and use other side of the ruler to draw a line. Move the ruler down the paper so that the front edge is along the line you just drew. Draw another line down the back edge of the ruler. Repeat all the way down the page.
2. Trace several geometric shapes on the paper. Or you can draw the shapes freehand.
3. Trace over all of the pencil lines with sharpie.
4. Color in the background first. Use an alternating pattern for the stripes. Don't color the spaces inside the shapes.
5. Color the shapes using the opposite color than the stripes.
