Make an Egg Float!

First, the scientist puts an egg in a jar of plain water. The egg sinks. Then he puts another egg in a jar of salt water. The egg floats! How does it work? Adding salt to water increases the density of the water. The more salt that is dissolved in water the more dense the water becomes. By dissolving enough salt in the water its density can be increased enough so that the water becomes more dense than the egg. When the egg is placed in this higher-density salt water, the egg floats.
