Social Studies

 

For Social Studies, we are using the Harcourt Brace Social Studies "Communities"  textbook.

Third grade social studies is exciting! Much of our curriculum focuses on ancient civilizations. We will learn about the Mesopotamians, and the ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans. We will study the many ways that the people in these various ancient civilizations had an influence on our community, our country, and our world. We will learn about communities, government, how places develop and change over time, our country's history, and different cultures. Much of what we will study at the beginning of the school year will have something to do with maps and globes.

Social Studies grades will be based on weekly assessments, unit tests, projects, participation, and class work.
